Stranger Things

As the year started to wind up and with Christmas around the corner, here’s what Enlightening Lives did.

Christmas is a celebration of giving and sharing. Keeping this in mind we tried to emphasise this motto and organised an event. A week before Christmas i.e on the 19th of December, a fundraising event was organised. As a part of this, participants were asked to donate one hundred and ninety-nine rupees and wait for a surprise Christmas gift and a positive note from a stranger(who is also a participant in the event). Certainly, the concept excites a lot of students and as soon as the posters and registration links were released, students enrolled in good numbers and generously donated for welfare activities and received their Christmas gifts and special notes from a stranger. The year 2020 was indeed full of hurdles and difficulties. But at  Enlightening Lives, we helped a few throughout the year and did our part in reaching out to those in need. We pledged to continue the help for years to come.

Diwali in your words

On the 9th of November, on the occasion of Diwali, Enlightening Lives wanted to light up every home with happiness and joy and hence it organized an event. Participants in this event were asked to write to us what this festival meant to them and received very creative and beautiful pieces of writing describing the importance of this festival.

The stories we got painted a beautiful picture of the festival in the reader's mind. Each of the participants donated a minimum of fifty rupees to take part in the contest. Even though people couldn't meet up physically, this paved a new way for students to express their thoughts while parallelly helping someone. The funds raised were used for the welfare of the needy. Surely the donations made lit up somebody’s home this Diwali

Never Retreat

On the 30th of August, Enlightening Lives donated a sum to a needy man... Ramulu, a 63-year-old man was fighting for his life after being met with an accident on the 30th of August. He got admitted to a hospital in Nizamabad, he was diagnosed with a clot in the brain and the major issue was his ribs were seriously injured making it difficult for him to breathe and was on ventilator support. Doctors of that hospital were demanding huge amounts of money for his treatment. His son Sanjeev was unable to afford such an amount of money for his father's survival and then when he approached Enlightening Lives for help. The core team held a meeting and decided to donate from the organization’s treasure. This decision was taken understanding the seriousness and urgency of the situation. Sadly, Ramulu did not survive despite undergoing surgery.

Saving a Life!

On the 21st of August 2020, Enlightening lives started a fundraising campaign, intending to save a life. Here is its briefing. Praveen is a 22-year B.Tech undergraduate from KITS Warangal, who was fighting his life with cancer. He was undergoing chemotherapy. His bone marrow was also to be transplanted and one other typical cancer treatment. All of these cost around Twenty Lakh Rupees. Praveen’s family were in a situation where they weren’t able to afford this. They were able to collect around 5 Lakh Rupees through a crowdfunding organization. Enlightening Lives decided to contribute its part in saving Praveen’s life. A campaign was started and funds began to flow in. With the tireless effort of Enlightening Live’s Core and its volunteers, within no time Enlightening Lives donated a life-saving amount to help Praveen. Enlightening Lives promised any further help to Praveen and his family. We consider this campaign as one of the pleasing and worthy donations Enlightening Lives made.
